Venice Fellowship - Day 12

On day 12, I took a walk to the Leonardo Da Vinci Museum near the Basilica di Frari.

On the ground floor it featured only a few of his smaller charicatures, some presentations detailing his life, and displays of his paintings.

In his drawings I always notice that he creates tone often through cross-hatching, and as well as the remarkable detail that he captured in them, he also had a very strong use of line.
I also draw in a bold style, particularly during life drawing, often with stronger gestural marks. I would also like to gain a sense of realism alongside this way of working.

On the first floor it was filled with models of his inventions from flying machines, to simple military bridges, olive presses to tanks. I was most interested in the tank, which was shaped a lot like a Donburi or Ramen bowl, aparrently large enough to be operated by 8 men and with guns on all sides. I was absolutely fascinated by the machinery inside and the shape of it, so I got to Drawing.

I'm very much enjoying the opportunities I am having to explore and Draw what I see. I've created a large portfolio of Drawings in different styles while I have been here, compiling visual research of my experience as a steward. But I need to think about how I will relate all of this work back to the Island and Freespace briefs.
